ABOUT:
Sydney Watnick focuses on painting and mixed media installation. She is particularly interested in the role of American history, narrative and storytelling in contemporary painting practices. A recent graduate of Kenyon College (Gambier, Ohio) in Studio Art and American Studies with Distinction, Sydney’s work has been shown in all of Gambier’s art venues including the Horn Gallery, the Gund Gallery, and the historic Bexley Hall. Hailing from bustling New York City, Sydney’s art is far from “quiet.” Chaotic compositions, stylized portraiture and feminine colors dominate her work. Most recently, Sydney wrote and illustrated a children’s book about the 2008 Primary Election. After graduation, Sydney will be returning to New York to make it big.
Sydney’s favorite color is magenta.
And yes, that is pink paint on her hands in the above picture.
